Regulations for the curbside recycling program

Special note to Putnam Lake area residents

ITEMS THAT CAN BE BROUGHT TO THE CENTER ARE:

Bulk Items: white goods, air conditioners Special permit and fee required

Mattresses accepted with permit during regular garbage pickup

Scrap Metals: coat hangers, door frames, pots, pans, etc.  
Used motor oil, auto batteries  
Used clothing  
Junk mail/magazines (Anything that comes in the mailbox)  
Telephone directories  
Tires Special permit required
Leaves and grass clippings no wood or brush
Glass: brown, green, clear only No blue glass
Metal & aluminum cans, jar lids, etc. separate from scrap metals
Plastics - # 1 PET, #2 HDPE, & #3 V items must be clean and caps removed
Newspapers bundle with twine
Corrugated cardboard & brown paper bags bundle with twine

 

An annual permit is required to use the facility. Permit fees are used to defray the cost of operating the Center. Town residents may purchase a permit at Town Hall or by mail. The Center is open to all Patterson residents.

2008 Recycling Permits are now on sale. Residents are reminded to please bring the registration of the vehicle(s) they plan on using when going to the recycling center. We will not be able to issue permits without proper proof of residency. Fees are as follows:

One car: $8.00
Two cars: $10.00
Commercial: $125.00

Put in brown bag in bin

Remove caps & lids; metal lids can be included with metal; plastic lids can be included with plastics

Rinse; labels OK
Do not break

Broken glass, lightbulbs,plate or window glass, ceramics, Pyrex, cyrstals, mirrors, fish tanks, drinking glasses and flower pots, blue glass
Metal

tin & aluminum cans, metal lids & caps, aluminum foil & plates, clean paint cans


Put in brown bag in bin. All other metals: take to recycling center.

Put lids inside can after rinsing


Cans can be flattened
Must fit into brown bag

Put in separate brown bag in bin

Flatten (if possible)

Holiday Scheduling:
Monday or Tuesday Holiday: Monday or Tuesday garbage pickup will shift to Wednesday. Wednesday recyclables pickup will be cancelled until the following week.

Putnam Lake Area Residents:

Putnam Lake area residents may also use a monthy dropoff service that is held at the VFW Hall on Fairfield Drive at Doansburg Road on the second Saturday of each month. This service is available 10 AM - 1 PM. Only magazines, catalogs, and junk mail are accepted. A Recycling Center permit is not required to use this service.
